I went for my 34 week appointment today. First, we had an ultrasound & the babies were measuring 5 lbs 1 oz and 5 lbs 4 oz. They both have huge heads & both have hair. The amniotic fluid levels look good & the heartrates were 144 and 147. The best news is that both babies are vertex, which means we get to go for a vaginal birth, which is what I am hoping for. YAY!
I got my cervix checked. I'm now dilated to 2 cm, and baby A is engaged. Things have been feeling weird lately, so I guess that is why. Because I'm 34 weeks, I am not on bedrest or anything, but the doctor doesn't want me out shopping or out of the house for long bouts. He is thinking/hoping I will make it to my next appointment, but not so sure about the next one. He'd love it if I could make it that long, but he is also very pleased that I am in the safe zone now. He did give me instructions to tell labor & delivery to call him directly if I go into labor, as he really wants to be there for the delivery. That kind of makes me think he's going on vacation or something. Well, I will certainly tell them that if it comes to it, I guess. I'm on weekly appts at this point.
I've set some mini goals for myself to help the time go along.
Goal #1- make it to October. This should be easy, seeing as that is tomorrow!
Goal #2- make it past next Tuesday, as I have a hair appointment scheduled
Goal #3- make it to 36 weeks
Since 36 weeks is term for twins, anything past that is just icing on the cake.
Sooo, anyday now, it could happen. We'll see!

Preparations, Waiting...
It's definitely more physically challenging now. Today was very hard on me, even though I barely did anything. It took a lot of motivation to just get off of the couch each time I needed to do anything. Poor Corbin is not getting much activity lately. Tuesday and Wednesday, we invited friends to come over for playdates. It was good to have some company. I just can't get out of the house by myself anymore, as lifting him in and out of the car is just out of the question. But today, we were on our own again.
Last week, my mom was in town & she helped us out tremendously by helping with Corbin, washing bottles and baby equipment & doing all of the laundry and baby clothing, blankets, etc. Next week, she will be back & I can't wait to have the help again.
A couple of months ago, we finished the nursery. I think everything is pretty much in its place already & ready to go. Here are some pics of the nursery:

We kept it much more simple than Corbin's room was. We didn't get the bumpers (which we didn't use with Corbin anyway) or the quilt (likewise). We just went for function.
Great Grandma Kranz called today to let me know that the baby blankets are finished, so I can have the babies now! Right now, I am 33 1/2 weeks along, and that is only 1 1/2 weeks away from the average gestation of twins. I'd like to have them at 37 weeks, so that they don't have to spend any time in the NICU & that they are full term and healthy. But that is only 3 1/2 weeks away! Time is just sort of slipping away on me.

4D Ultrasound Day
We had our 4D ultrasound this morning. It ended up being quite the ordeal. We've been there several times before, but we've never been there before with an uncooperative baby (two of them!)
It ended up being that they didn't have an appt scheduled after ours, so the tech spent 2 hours with us, trying to get them to turn away from my back so we could see their little faces. A was stubborn up until the last 5-10 minutes of the u/s! Little stinker. He had a comfy place & was not budging!
A is measuring 4 lbs, 4 oz and 18 inches long already! B is measuring 4 lbs, 2 oz and 17 3/4 inches long. B has slightly more hair than A. He also has the most unfortunate positioning. Besides being transverse today, A is completely squashing him. He has both of his feet and arms up near his head.
Here is Baby B. He looks the most like Corbin
Here is B, yawning
B with his hand up in the air. He's really quite squashed in there!
B
Here is a shot of both of them, in some form or another!
Here is Mr. Stubborn, Baby A!
The tech said he was crying here
Look at those lips! (A)
This one is a little freaky. It looks like A is eating the placenta!
