Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!

The twins had a pretty great Christmas! They had so many hands to hold them and coddle them. They were showered with diapers and other baby essentials. Sleep was a little off, but that was because mommy & daddy were a little off schedule. But it was so nice to have everyone here instead of traveling. It would have been way too stressful this year, and none of us would have gotten any sleep. We were so fortunate that relatives were able to come to us.

2 Month Check In

Cameron is doing so much better since his tooth was pulled! He's been sleeping in 4 hours stretches & seems much more rested & happier. His tongue is healing so nicely.

Jameson is great, too. Last night, he slept for 8 hours straight- from 9 until 5!

Cameron had his tooth pulled today. I was nervous & a little scared. But Cameron wasn't. As soon as the dentist put on the topical anaesthetic, he calmed down & even smiled. That thing must have really hurt him, and he was finally getting some relief. The dentist pulled back Cam's tongue & it was really eroding. Little chunks of his precious tongue were missing!

Anyway, Cam didn't even cry when it was pulled. It bled for a few minutes, but quickly stopped. He's really zonked out since we got home, probably from the stress. I'm so glad we pulled it. Oh, and the one right next to it is indeed coming in. It hasn't broken through yet. We're hoping that the next one won't be such an issue.

We got to keep the little tooth!





The dentist said that it probably wouldn't have survived anyway, as the root was all gelatinous, which isn't normal.

Christmas Party, Personalities, and Teeth

We went to the Mothers of Multiples Christmas Party on Saturday. It was a lot of fun, although it is always super exhausting going anywhere with the whole crew in tote. Corbin was able to enjoy the party more, but the twins were able to participate somewhat also (even if they slept through the whole thing!)

Their personalities are coming through more. Cameron is a little less patient than Jameson. He is not colicky, thank goodness. Whenever he has a need, it is easily met & he calms down. But when he has a need, he definitely makes his needs known, and LOUDLY! lol

Jameson is a very easy baby. He sleeps for 6 hour bouts every night. He goes down for naps easily, he eats well... he's just easy! He's going to be our laid back little guy.

At their appointment last week, here were their stats.

Cameron: 15" head (25-50%), 8 # 4 oz, 20 1/2 inches long, 5-10% for weight, 3% for height.

Jameson: 15 1/4" head (35%), 10 # 3 oz (35%), 21" long (35%)

But at their appointment, Dr. Black looked at their mouths closely because of Cameron's tooth. She found a bony protrusion at the bottom of their gum, when you pull back their bottom lips. Also, Cameron has an ulcer on the bottom of his tongue from rubbing it against his tooth. She referred us back to the dentist.

We saw the pediatric dentist, Dr. Loochtan, on Tuesday. Unfortunately, he had never seen that protrusion thing in his 20 years of experience. He is going to consult his fellow pediatric dentist friends and get back with me. He believes that it is just a variation of normal, but wants to make sure. Also, Cameron's tongue is being treated by breaking open a vitamin E capsule & rubbing it on the sore. If it isn't healing in a week, he may have to have the tooth removed.

Visit to Toledo & Misc Pics

Last week, we went to Toledo to visit great grandma & grandpa Kranz, who can't make it to see us in Columbus. We also have taken a couple of new pics over the last week or so.

We plan to take another car trip soon, but this time to Cincinnati to celebrate Corbin's birthday. It's so exhausting- there is so much that goes into an outing. You have to reserve an extra hour to get ready. By the time you think you have everything all situated, the kids have to eat again & be changed!

Pro Photos and a Tooth!

Soooo, Cameron was born with a tooth. The pediatrician who assessed him in the hospital thought that it was a mucocele on his gumline. When I took him in to the office 4 days later, our pediatrician looked at his mouth briefly and asked, "Is that a tooth?" and I said, "No, the pediatrician in the hospital said it was a mucocele." So, she didn't do any further investigating.

We were in Meijer the other day, checking out, and Cameron got hungry & started to cry. I thought I saw a little white spot on his bottom left gum.

When we got home, I peeked in his little mouth and felt its little sharp edges.



The next afternoon, Jameson had a weight recheck appointment. While I was there, I asked the ped if she would look at Cameron's tooth. She confirmed it was a tooth, and was a little concerned because when they come in so early, they don't have mature root systems, so they are wiggly and can become a choking hazard.

She called around and found a pediatric dentist with an opening right away. She felt it could not be put off & needed to be assessed right away.

The pediatric dentist was fantastic. She had a few minutes before I came in to research some statistics for me. Cameron was the youngest patient they had ever had in the office. She said that 90% of the time, these are the primary teeth. The other 10% of the time, they are extra calcium deposits that are like "extra" teeth. They don't always need removed. She recommended keeping Cameron's tooth intact unless it started to become very loose or interfered with him gaining weight appropriately. She also said that only 1-2 babies in 6000 are born with teeth. A girl on facebook commented, "Twins and a baby born with a tooth- go get a lotto ticket!"

In other news, I had mentioned that my friend Lindsay of Linz Photography had taken our family's photos when I was 6 days postpartum. Here are the results:
